Champions League Fantasy Football: Forwards

Kylian Mbapp was the top-scoring forward ahead of Paris Saint-Germain team-mate Lionel Messi while Erling Haaland will be looking to get back among the Fantasy points in the knockout stage.

Which forwards stood out in the UEFA Champions League group stage? m looks at the goalscorers who led the way on UCLfantasy, presented by Playstation.

Pariss star-studded front line certainly lived up to its billing in the group stage, withKylian Mbapp (€11.3m)andLionel Messi (€10.6m)occupying the top two spots in terms of Fantasy points among forwards. Mbapps 62 points was comfortably the most among forwards, the Frenchmans seven goals making him the joint-top scorer heading into the knockout stage, while three assists and a competition-leading four Player of the Match awards have all contributed towards his impressive total. Messi, meanwhile, boasts eight attacking returns in his five appearances and both will be integral to their sides hopes against Bayern in the round of 16.

Elsewhere in the premium bracket,Erling Haaland (€11.1m)began the competition with five goals in the first three matchdays, but was used sparingly in the second half of the group stage. The Norwegian will be one of the first names on the Manchester City team sheet against Leipzig in the round of 16, and his incredible record in the competition 28 goals in 23 appearances is sure to see his ownership level remain high.

One striker not be appearing in the knockout stage, is Robert Lewandowski, who is destined for the UEFA Europe League after Barcelonas early exit. The Pole struck five times in Group C, but his former club Bayern could well attract interest from Fantasy managers ahead of Matchday 7.Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting (€6.0m)has nine games in his last eight games at the time of writing and will surely be in Julian Nagelsmanns thoughts when the German side take on Paris in the round of 16. Choupo-Moting struck three times in the group stage and his generous price is bound to court some interest.

Two mid-priced forwards shone for Portuguese clubs during the group stage, with BenficasRafa Silva (€8.5m)and PortosMehdi Taremi (€7.7m)earning 39 and 38 Fantasy points respectively. Both feature in very few Fantasy sides, so their differential appeal is strong, while AC MilansOlivier Giroud (€8.0m)andAndr Silva (€7.8m)of Leipzig also fall into this category having each recorded six attacking returns.

Giacomo Raspadori (€7.2m)andGiovanni Simeone (€7.1m)both produced some notable returns at various stages for Napoli in Group A, but keen-eyed Fantasy managers will have spotted thatVictor Osimhen (€7.9m)has been fit and firing for Luciano Spallettis side lately, and the Nigerian could well be a viable option by Matchday 7.

Bargain hunters still have the option ofFerran Jutgl (€5.9m)to consider. The Club Brugge striker produced a pair of double-figure hauls in the group stage, one of those coming in a 14-point showing against Porto, whose domestic rivals Benfica provide Portos opposition in the round of 16.
